Lightroom CC: Desktop albums do not sync to iOS/Web
Thanks to a tip from Victoria Bampton, I have migrated lots of Lightroom Classic folders to Lightroom CC using Collections on macOS into CC albums. So far so good.
Problem however is that the albums from macOS do not sync to the iOS and web version of Lightroom CC and there is no apparent pattern why some sync other do show empty albums or the album misses entirely. If I rename an album on macOS it starts showing on iOS/web, but I certainly cannot do this for hundreds of albums.
The close to 30k photos themselves are all synced, only finding/isolating them is a drag.
I saw that somebody else had a similar problem which got solved, only there is no solution given I could follow...
Help appreciated, thanks, Timo

So in the top right corner, when you click on the cloud icon, does it say it's still syncing? Or what shows up there?

Syncing is complete and all Lightroom CC versions (macOS, iPad, iPhone & web) show exactly the 29,921 photos in my library.
Have double checked and searched for a few photos of missing or empty albums and found them okay-ish (IMHO search has a lot of improvement opportunity...).

Above album is in a structure of '2010 - 2014' then '2013' and finally '2013-08-27 New York'.
In the library I do have a few albums with German umlauts in the names but not too many. Happy to send you screenshots of macOS and iOS libraries if this helps.
Do not think there is any issue with length of album "path" as a few longer event names came through, but shorter ones missing completely.
BTW, thanks for your great input into these forums!

This gives me at least a vector for optimisation, by eliminating these from folder names and building a new Lightroom Classic database and then migrating again. A bit cumbersome, but can run in the background...
...and probably best time in the year for such a project... ;)

- did build new LR Classic DB
- without any special characters in album names (apart from some German ones discovered a few French venue names with accents...) and
- reduced structure depth by taking out the 5 year folders (e.g. '2000 - 2004') so 4 digit years are now top level
- replaced all empty spaces with underscores for good measure
- deleted old album names from LR CC library
- and then run migration process
Good news: *all* albums came across and contained the expected number of photos in each album. So I presume the special characters in some album names have been the root cause.Bad news: LR CC does not seem to catch duplicates that well (...at all...), so I now have a database with close to 60k pictures... Thought I could cut some corners by leaving the photos in, but know better now...
But third time lucky and after wiping the cloud database will do it again and then have a nice clean cloud library with all albums and all photos!
Have a great start into 2019!
