In progress

Lightroom: Adobe Standard as default profile for unedited but synced images?

If I import images to LR Classic and choose a synced collection in the import dialog, then those unedited images show Adobe Standard as profile in LR CC (desktop and mobile on iPhone and iPad). In LR Classic it looks like they have Adobe Color applied. The profile in LR CC changes, if I do some edits like auto tone in LR Classic.

Adobe Standard is set as profile in LR CC as well, if I reset all edits of a synced image in the develop module of LR Classic. LR Classic still shows Adobe Color in the profile menu, but in LR CC it is Adobe Standard.

Since I thought it might be related to a previous issue of mine, I tested four RAW files from three different cameras: Olympus OMD E-M1 MkII, Pentax K-x (native PEF and out of camera DNG) and Hasselblad X1D. I can reproduce this with all files.

Is that a bug or feature?

I am able to duplicate this.  This appears to be a bug in Lightroom Desktop 3.2.  Lightroom Web is showing the correct Adobe Color profile.  I will log a bug for this with the Desktop team. Thanks for the information.

Hi Rick,
thanks for logging a bug report with the Desktop team. Please be aware, that the issue is not only affecting Lightroom Desktop 3.2. It affects Lightroom CC mobile for iPhone and iPad 5.2.2. as well. If a different development team is responsible for the iOS apps, I would kindly ask you to log a bug report with them as well.

Image color is changing when zooming into raw files in Lr Mobile on iOS / iPad Pro.

When I zoom into raw files, the color changes to a cooler/blueish tint.  Zooming back out, doesn't restore the color, but swiping left/right to another image and then back returns the image to the normal color.

If I change the color profile to anything else and then back to Adobe Standard, the colors don't change when zooming.  It only happens on the images that have the default profile applied.

Here's a screengrab of the image before zooming...

And the color change after doing nothing other than zooming in...

Sounds similar to what's been posted here for LrC -
Lightroom Classic: Library zoomed view shows wrong color

Just thought to check Lr Mobile on my iPhone X and the color change problem is not occurring there.

"It only happens on the images that have the default profile applied."

I am not sure what you mean here.

This looks like images synced from Lightroom Classic to the cloud. What is the Profile in Lightroom Classic?  (Screenshot would be helpful)

What is the profile after syncing to iPad (Screenshot of the profile would be helpful here too)

@Rikk - Yeah sorry, I wasn't really thinking about the LrC portion and didn't document the whole workflow.

  • Images were taken with a DSLR & imported into LrC, added to a collection and sync'd to the cloud / Lr Mobile.
  • The Raw default in LrC preferences is set to "Adobe Default".  There are no camera specific settings.
  • In LrC, the profile applied to the imported image is listed as "Adobe Color".
  • In Lr Mobile, the profile applied is listed as "Adobe Standard".
  • While the profiles are mismatched between LrC & Lr Mobile, the color problem occurs when zooming.
  • If the profiles match, either by changing it in LrC or Lr Mobile, the problem does not occur and colors stay consistent when zooming.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

What does the profile show on your iPhone?

Adobe Standard...

And looks like I misspoke.  The color change does in fact occur on the iPhone too.  I rarely use the phone for this stuff, so I think I just missed it when I looked initially.

Sorry, this goofy forum wouldn't let me put an image in the reply.  Here's the screenshot from the iPhone.

If you log into Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) what do you see for Profile and visual appearance?

Lr Web shows Adobe Color.
