Lightroom: Ability to Sort/Filter Images by File Type or Smart Folder for DNG Files

There are occasions in which I want to be able to sort or filter my images by file type, separating DNG from JPG. It would be convenient to have this as an option in the filter menu. Alternatively, even a smart folder for DNG files would be helpful.

Agreed! Filtering should be improved! I’d also suggest camera, for example. (In fact, exifs...)

Obviously, I am missing some nuance in your suggestion. (At least, Lightroom Classic CC, has had this since time began)

I selected "Lightroom for mobile" as the category for this, but it says just Lightroom in the title. Looking for this functionality in the mobile version.

Am I correct in my assertion that I can't edit or delete posts on this forum? Do you know?

I think you can ask a moderator to do that for you. I think you can only edit or delete your own comments before someone has responded, but after that your comments are immutable. (I've been caught similarly!) Moderator, if you change Tim's question to Lightroom Mobile only, please delete any or all of my responses!

Somebody has already removed the LR Classic category.

Any idea how I would notify a moderator?

Thanks, Rikk. I actually installed the new version first thing this morning in hopes that either filtering based on file type or a DNG smart folder would be there, but not yet. Great improvements though! Adobe is incrementally giving us great functionality on our phones.

@Tim, so with the update that happened yesterday, there is sort of a way to do this. Though I'm not sure whether it will fit your need or not. You cannot filter by file type, but you can group by file type. To do this:
  1. Navigate to the album you want to view file types in
  2. Click the ••• menu in the top right
  3. Click Segmentation
  4. Click File Types
Now you will see the file types grouped together, and the number of each type. You can do this in the All Photos album as well.

Genius! I had no idea this functionality existed. Great workaround for the time being. Thanks.

Well, it didn't until about 36 hours ago :-P. They had segmentation before, but it was very limited. They expanded that functionality a ton yesterday.
