Lightroom 3.2 - Desktop applications stalls on "checking free space" while trying to add.

when selecting a set of photos for import,  the deduplication runs and masks all duplicates enabling only unique photos to be added (blue Add Photos), once clicked the top left progress starts and shows Importing...   or "checking free space" the application gets stuck on this, the hover over cloud shows connected and all in sync.  give a machine with SSD disks I don't see why a check for free space should take long and should not hang.

stopping the import and restarting the application waiting for the cloud sync to complete and trying the add photos again sometimes works.

it would make a huge difference to see what steps are being done by the application (pre-allocation of space for example, or deduplication against cache, or deduplication in set, When I reinstall the application (and clear local %appdata%) the initial download clearly hasn't completed so how does deduplication work ? - unknown to me... thanks

Restart your computer and then immediately reset your Preference File

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall.
Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the import 'checking disk error' issue continue after resetting the preferences?
