Lag between keyword entry and appearance.

I'm working through an import right now, and there is a lag of approximately 10 seconds between when I enter a keyword in the "Add Keyword" box and when that keyword appears in the list of keywords for the image. This is highly annoying, because it requires either that I wait before moving on to the next image to confirm keyword entry, or move on and accept the risk of having misspelled the keyword. 

The issue goes away if I turn off my wifi connection, making it clear that the problem is somehow linked to the program's internal workflow when connected to the internet versus when it is not.
