Feedback on Lightroom CC
I'm sure this release will excite some people, but to me there is such a long list of big problems that come with this new release that I fear it's going the way of the recent Final Cut, and previous power users will be stuck using legacy software that eventually gets phased out.
Just to name a few:
- no way to organize my photos by folders on hard disks. This was a helpful way to group photos, organize, and move media around drives
- no multiple catalogues (I organized projects as catalogues, letting me focus on the current batch of photos, and keep them organized by folder on drives)
- no way to show original file (I guess because there isn't an "original file" anymore)
- no way to rename photo files
- no way to see photo full screen without any interface (previously F)
- no quick way to switch full screen modes (previously Shift-F), depending on how much interface I wanted at a given time (helpful often while working with other people who may not know the software as well)
- no way to get full screen at all without that slow Apple full screen animation
- this is subtle, but in the past I knew I could always press "G" to get back to grid view, but now G toggles between two kinds of grid views, so it's become an "unstable" button
- no way to filter by virtual copies anymore (and no more virtual copies)
- no way to escape out of Keywords dialogue with key commands
- no slideshows, or "Quick Slideshow" for that matter

There is a lot of good stuff here but they won't get any attention unless you post them separately as ideas. That way other forum members can vote on their favorites.
Thanks for your input!

I honestly don't understand the point of this complete redesign. Did they rebuild it from the ground with a more optimized code framework and just not get around to reimplementing their original feature set yet?
I can repost these as separate issues, but they should be self-evident to any interface designer and pro user. I could give you a list of things I'd like to have seen implemented/improved in Classic Lightroom, but this other stuff I posted is so basic it's literally confusing what the design goals in this new version were besides dumbing the whole experience down à la iPhoto.
