Can I open and use my LR CC 2015.12 catalog in LR 6?

Question

I am planning some changes and need to know if I buy a perpetual version of LR 6, will I be able to use my catalog from LR CC version 2015.12 and continue to edit?

The last version I have of perpetual is 5.5 and I'm pretty sure I can't use that with my catalog, but I will buy a copy of LR 6 if it will work.

Has anyone tried this?

LR 6 and CC 2015 are compatible, but you will lose certain features only available in CC 2015:

"Lightroom CC also gives you ongoing new feature updates as soon as they are available – including the popular Dehaze and Boundary Warp functions, as well as the new Guided Upright feature and Local B&W Adjustment Sliders – none of which are in LR6."

To be more precise: you will lose the interface to modify or apply these features. However, any image you edited in Lightroom CC2015, will still show these edits -including edits like Dehaze and Guided Upright- when you switch back to Lightroom 6.

LR 6/CC 2015 use a different catalog format, which cannot be opened in LR 5/CC, CC2014. You'll get an error message saying the 'Catalog is Too New.'

I'll provide some options in a 2nd reply.

Thanks Todd. I am not updating to classic 7.0, specifically for that reason. I figure this is the last opportunity I will ever have to keep my catalog with a perpetual product.

You're pretty sure it will work with 2015.12 and LR6 right?
