Not a problem

Annoying Tooltips/Help Won't Go Away With Latest Update

With the latest update, the tooltips/help panels keep popping up when I'm editing and they start to populate on top of each other, crowding the screen.

Please fix this. This makes the UI unusable.

There isn't a way to turn tooltips off.

If you hover over sliders for a long period without moving, you will see them appear more often.
They do decrease with time and you should see them far less after a few days.

So even after using this every week for a year they still show up and they pile up on top of eachother, blocking the user's view?

Rick, it's time to admit that this is a glaring bug and a UX issue.

We've not widespread reports of this and I have never seen it in testing.

Sounds like you may need to reset your preferences.

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

We are also setting the preference behavior for the rich tool tips by doing this. I would expect the behavior to continue for a few launches after this.

If you see the behavior after resetting preferences and giving it some time, I would suspect driver issues in any input devices (Mice, Tablets, Editing Consoles)

I hope this helps.

This is still an issue.

Did you reset your preferences as outlined above?

In Lightroom 4.0 I am really irritated by the very intrusive pop-up tooltips telling me what I can do. After a full day of use they keep appearing when I hover my mouse over a slider. It should be possible to disable them! Adobe seems to think every user of Lightroom is a 14 year old child that is new to photography and needs to be babysitted. It's these kind of things that keep me looking at competitive apps.

This thread has been merged with another thread, describing another kind of issue. Is anybody even really reading this?
My issue is the fact that tooltips cannot be disabled, treating all users as novices.

Well, that doesn't really help me does it. Clearly the pop-ups don't appear less often. If Adobe wants users to switch to other programs, just say so. Don't take the hassle of making Lightroom unworkable.
