workflow LR to PS

Ever since I remember, it was possible to open photos out of LR in PS and proceed working in PS - saving and sending back.Since the last update this is no longer possible.
Chat informed, that it is not possible to work with photos on a server - but my server is configured as an external drive and it worked for years ...
Any ideas or solutions?

Maybe it still thinks it's a server? I've never been able to open files across a network. If I have the hard drive plugged into my computer, that's different and that still works. But, I can't work with that LR cat from one computer to another that has the catalog on an external hard drive on the second computer.

Hi - I know about that - but on NAS - connected to the computer it normally works - at least it did for all the years I have been working with LR & PS...
The other aspects you are mentioning are clear - would prefer to have it sync - but know that this is not working ;)

There's a bug unrelated to network drives in recent versions of PS/LR that makes "Open in Photoshop" from Lightroom not work. It may be that instead?
There's another thread about NAS drives here:

I had this issue and after persisting with numerous fixes including re-installing both programs and installing old versions of the programs. The online forums suggested going direct to Adobe thought their chat help which I did last Friday. They needed to access my computer to replace the Camera Raw plug in. It took them around 1 hour to do this. It is working fine now. The assistant told me it would be around 15-20 days before a fix would be released. I am running a MAC on a NAS drive. The issue is purely a camera raw plug in issue and not related to being on a server.

Thanks - at least you had more luck than I had, talking to the chat - it was a disaster yesterday. The person did not know at all what I was talking about.Unfortunately I cannot wait that long - have to prepare my photos for an exhibition by Monday  :oBut I will go back to the chat and try solve the problem with them - maybe I am more lucky this time! Thanks again!

How about you just export them as TIFF to a folder, then open them in Photoshop from there? After your changes re-import them into LR if you need to and stack them with the original shot (until the software fix happens)?

Mark - I have the same issue as you described above - can you tell me what version of Camera Raw they installed, please.
I use a Mac with my data on a NAS.

Hi Paddy. It was 10.5. It was quite a process. They seemed to have to go through some camera logs and delete those before loading the new version in.
