Why two versions? Waste of time!!!

Perhaps you missed my point: I do use Lightroom Classic CC and it has been, of course, downloaded.  I've been using LR since 3—one's always had to download and install it.

I do not use Lightroom CC, which does have a small downloaded component, BTW.

So you're right, I do have a choice and I made it.  I'm not sure why Frank thinks he has to download both versions.

As for your claim of "Many users have been converted...", where are your facts?  From everything I read on these forums, Lightroom CC does not have nearly all of the features of Lightroom Classic CC.  It's not quite a "Lightroom Elements" but it is not Lightroom Classic CC—by design.

I understand Adobe is planning to get there; however, I will never make the switch as I will never trust Adobe to act as a legitimate caretaker of my intellectual property (and charge me a small fortune for cloud space in the process).

I believe your comment regarding "many" is more correct in regards to users moving from the no longer updated LR 6 standalone to subscription-based Lightroom Classic CC.  Of course, what choice did we have?  No future upgrades and Adobe's move to a subscription-based business model forced the hands of "many."

I agree that LR CC (cloud) is feature poor compared to Classic and they have a long way to go before they gain parity.  I actually think it surprised them that most Classic uses didn't jump on the CC bandwagon and ditch classic.  My evidence is the number of surveys I've gotten from Adobe concerning my use of classic vs CC.  

However, I do have both Classic and CC installed.  Classic on my desktop and CC on my mobile devices so that I can have current versions of a subset of my images available on my phone to show folks.  I NEVER edit images on the phone and when I last checked CC does not support hierarchical keywording so don't do keywording either.  

PS - I also installed cc on my desktop just for reference

Really?  Lightroom CC offers collaborative editing?  Multi-user access?  Workgroup support?

TangCanada, by definition, personal is "relating to or affecting a particular person". Whether it's an attack or not may sometimes be an issue of perception, but there's no reason for replies to be about a specific person AT ALL. Let's stick to the topic of Lightroom.

Back on topic, I know both versions of Lightroom inside and out, and I choose to use Lightroom CC for my personal archive and Lightroom Classic for work. If I didn't have fast internet, I'd make different decisions. YMMV.

I have a day job as a product photographer and use Bridge; for my freelance photo business I use Lightroom Classic (I would use Aperture if it was still in development.) Lightroom CC would be a poor choice for either.

Different people have different needs. The ideal world is that each program get the same set of features, that work well, and that all the programs are polished and stable without glaring bugs. Maybe someday, huh? ;)
