Reinstate 'right-click and open in Lightroom from the OS-level file manager

In LR 6.14 the feature where one can edit a photo or folder is to right-click on it and open with LR, however this feature is not available in LR Classic as it is considered a "bug"  "Bug" it may be but it is my prefered way of accessing LR for editing purposes. Please reinstate it. It was doing no harm and is very useful.

Your memory is playing tricks with you. It's never been a Lightroom feature (sadly).

Maybe it's something you did in the operating system?

Some of the older LR versions had it in the Windows right-click menu. I was hunting for the original bug report this morning but I can't find it.

I don't think that's so, Victoria. There was a registry trick to do it, which should still work but might need redoing because of program name changes.  I was hunting for it just now, but couldn't find it....

I’ve just been rooting around on my VM and it IS still possible, no registry hacking involved.
  1. Right-click on a photo
  2. Go to Open with > Choose Another App
  3. Scroll down to More Apps
  4. Scroll down > Look for another app on this PC
  5. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Lightroom.exe
It triggers the import dialog, just like it always did.
