Nikon D800 / D800E support in Lightroom 3.0 ?

I preordered a Nikon D800. Will there be soon support for it in Lightroom 3.0. Thinking of thethering and handling the RAW images.
regards,
John

Speculating as just another user, I am pretty certain that Adobe wouldn't have D800 support when you first get your camera, and it may be 3-6 months afterwards for RAW and maybe longer for tethering.

Adobe won't usually say if they will be supporting something until that support is officially announced when the product is released.

For RAW support, since you don't have the camera, yet, they proably don't either, and then it'll be a question of timing, if there is enough time for them to profile the camera (and any other new ones) before the next version of LR/ACR comes out, or if it'll be pushed off to the next release after.

LR4 is in it's first public beta period, that expires in March, sometime, and if there is another public beta of LR4 then you could imagine there'd be enough time for support to be in LR4.0, and if not, by LR 4.1. If there will be a LR 3.7 then it would depend on whether camera support is finalized for it before the D800 is profiled or not. Sometimes things get out of order and support for new cameras that LR 3.7 might have, wouldn't be in LR until 4.1. Things also probalby depend of when ACR 7.0 and CS6 would be coming out, and whether Adobe wants to use the D800 support as marketing for their new version or not.

For tethering support, if the D800 uses the same manufacturer-supplied SDK libraries as the existing cameras, then it wouldn't be too hard to add support, but if the D800 has new things it does that Adobe would need to reprogram for, then it would probably be some time after RAW support would be added that tethering support would be added.
