Lightroom - Wireless Import Option

It would be a Great option to have "Wireless" as an Import option for Lightroom. That way I can import directly from the wireless connection from my Sony camera or iphone

Interestingly it works with my Canon G9 X MKII camera in LR Classic 7.5 on Windows 7, but not with my Canon 6D's WiFi mode.

No problems with any of my Wi-Fi enabled cameras—Canon EOS 6D, Sony a7RII, a7RIII, and a7SII—with LR 7.5 on a MacPro Mojave.  (However, I almost never use it as the renaming capability in LR sucks and the cameras are even more limited in setting up filenames.  I rather write to an external drive, rename with a number sequence, and then import.)

Have you looked at your wireless network settings to see if your computer sees the camera?

The Canon 6D WiFi works on my Windows 7 PC using the Canon EOS Utility 2.14, but the camera doesn't appear in Windows Explorer or in the Lightroom Import module. Looking at the Canon WiFi manual the only option shown for computer connection is using the EOS Utility. How are you connecting on the MacPro?

Mac OS.  Network Preferences or Path Finder.  All Wi-Fi devices appear.  Cannot comment on Windoze.

Is also working as expected on my Windows 10 system.

Almost forgot.  Canon software manuals tend to act as if nothing else in the world exists.  One cannot assume that other connection methods are not available simply because Canon never mentions them.  I only use Canon software to update the firmware in the camera, otherwise it sits dormant until I get around to deleting it.

Thanks Rikk. Perhaps this is just a Windows 7 issue? Any chance you can check it on a Windows 7 system?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Feature request.

As a long time power user and commercial photographer, I have two feature requests for Lightroom.

1.  The ability to overlay a client layout on images as they are being captured.
2.  The ability to tether wirelessly using the camera's native software like Canon's wireless utility on their 5d Mark 4.  So often it is very difficult when shooting lifestyle or other active situations to be tether with a cable.

I have merged your request with this one. Consider making a separate post regarding overlays.

Hi Zave, regarding overlays, go to View>Loupe Overlay>Choose Layout Image. Once it's in place, hold down Cmd (Mac) or Ctl (PC) for options.
