Lightroom v4 beta 1: White label on a TIFF

A white label is shown if the text in the label tag does not match your current Color Label Set (Metadata -> Color Label Set).

You can see what's assigned to the label tag in the metadata panel.

Beat, my label text is "green" for these two TIFF files, so I made a deeper search of the cause. What I find is that in the Language change from English to Spanish and then back to English (for Betatest purposes), that label names are still in Spanish. Instead of green, blue, red... label names, theer are verde, azul, amarillo, ... So there's a little problem in the language change.

I have made another test with changing interface language and these two files continues with white label, and the 5 control to change the label are still in spanish despite of I have made many changes between languages (Français, Deustch, ...).

Maybe a translation table error?

Changing languages while setting labels is a critical operation, because the label tag in Exif is not a color, but just a string (you could also call the red label "John"). The translation to colors is an LR feature.

So if you assign blue to a photo while you have a label set active which contains spanish colors, the word "azul" is written into the Exif tag. When you then look at the image with a label set where the color blue translates to "blue", "azul" will not be recognized as this color.

Doesn't matrter which language I have in LR, that my labels always appears as "rojo", "azul", ... They are still in Spanish. The TIFF label is set to "Green" in the metadatas. The two above, the photos on green and yellow, they're labeled in the metadatas as "Amarilla" and "Verde".

If I understand it correctly, something is going wrong.

Now, don't switch languages while finding these things out, just stick with one language.

thank you for your help. I didn't never realize of this option in metadata menu. Very useful to name each label as want. It gives me more than one method to label the photos.

Hi, when filtering pictures by label I find after the violet label a white label called "Personal" (I suppose, since in italian it's "Personale"). It's simple to select it in order to filter but... how can I set this label?

What is it that determines whether Lightroom honors a pre-existing color label? Or seeks an alternative/default?
