Filename is now hidden under a tooltip.
Destination panel folders preview is gone, including the italic preview showing your chosen folder structure, the checkmarks to their right, and the volume information showing how much space was available on each drive.

Lightroom 2015.3/6.3 is now available. This release restores the Import experience available prior to Lightroom 6.2.

In the light of all the removed features it is clear that Lightroom moves into the direction of a fun app. Capture One Pro here I come...

Move is the most important to me. Many photo sources deliver photos and videos to my computer via Dropbox. I review them in the import dialog and select groups to MOVE to a particular permanent storage location or catalog while applying relevant keywords. I repeat until Dropbox's Camera Uploads folder is empty. With this software update, it now means I have to manually delete each import group as I go until there is nothing left, nothing forgotten, no mistakes because of manual processing. This is really much more work and frankly a tool for pro photographers should have a lot of options. If there is truly market demand for a simpler import function, make that an option rather than remove so many features that pros use.

I also use these features that have been removed/changed to be less useful:
- To be able to see how file name looks before it is brought in to LR.
- To see the destination Folders
- Zoom is gone from the Import Loupe view.
- Filename is now hidden under a tooltip.
- Destination panel folders preview is gone, including the italic preview showing your chosen folder structure, the checkmarks to their right, and the volume information showing how much space was available on each drive.
- Total file size is gone from the bottom left corner.
- The filename preview (when renaming) is gone.

It will be a huge effort for me to move from LR to another system, but if this isn't reversed I will have to seriously consider cancelling my subscription. The features you removed were important to file integrity (eject after import) and folder management (preview of destination tree). Your customers are going to end up with their images in unintended places, with folder structures like "2015/10/2015/10/2015..." without warning. See how much new users love you then.

If you feel you must compete in the "simple" marketplace, create an "expert" mode and let those of us who understand LR set things up as they need to be.

Thanks.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Destination panel folders preview.

Please reinstate Destination panel folders preview - this was a chance to ensure your import was not going astray and new folders created made sense. Removing this makes little sense.

This is the first step in a very very wrong direction for Lightroom. If they want to use this interface for "LR Elements", great. But they've messed with something that wasn't broken. Changing a workflow is one thing, but removing vital options from that workflow is something else entirely. I'll be sticking on the previous version until this gets fixed.

I agree. I use all the things that were taking away. The one I'm not sure I can think of a workable solution without, is move. I really really need that feature back.

This will be the first time ever I hold updating until it gets fixed.

I emphatically support this petition. I had noticed a number of things missing from the new dialog, but wow, it's so much worse than I first thought.

I understand the desire to make things "simpler", but please bear in mind the difference between "difficult" and "complex". Yes, less difficult is good, but less complex means less capable and that is definitely not good—at least not from the point of view of users, even if it means more code to support.

Geeez, thanks a lot for eliminating zoom to 100% in the new import module in lightroom. Not everyone wants to import every image into lightroom, wait for 1:1 previews to be built, cull and then delete. What a totally cumbersome workflow. An improvement would have been to speed up the previous import module, although I'm sure the simplification is welcome to newcomers..

Please restore the Move option. I can't imagine why this would have been removed in the first place, as this will have broken many people's workflows.

I hope Adobe reads and responds to these forums.

I use (used) Move when I was reorganizing groups of photos brought in from other sources originally managed by other people.

I used Import Duplicates when reorganizing photos brought in from other sources originally managed by other people. I'd import all the photos and then figure out how to handle the duplicates within LR. Now, I have to figure it out before importing.

This rapidly-accelerating "dumbing down" of Lightroom is a travesty. I need ALL of these import (important) features.

Please reinstate items removed from Lightroom 6.2. You have not improved this version, but made it weaker. I am especially upset about your removal of the move option, zoom in the import loop view, and preview of the destination tree. What in the world are you thinking?
