Not a problem
Lightroom mobile: Sync issues
I am able to create a collection in the desktop version and sync to my iPad version but if I make changes to the desktop version the original version on my iPad remains. I am stuck with the original version and the one changed in Photoshop and updated in Lightroom are not synced over to the mobile version. This has been the case for a few months and I can't find a way to sort it out :-(

In Lightroom desktop, go to Help menu > System Info and tell us the version.
In Lightroom mobile, go to LR icon (top left) > About Lightroom.

If you have the file name of the file you are not able to sync, we may be able to figure out what is going on based on the server traffic. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Peter

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Lightroom Classic version: 7.1 [ 1148620 ]
Mobile: version 3.1.0 SFFEC9
It seems to be any file that I've changed in PS. All LR adjustments are synced but any further adjustments created in PS are not. I did notice that sometimes, when I click on the thumbnail in LR an old version of the image briefly appears. In fact, it's a very old version. This happens briefly and only occupationally so I can't replicate it at will.
Not sure that's much to go on guys but I appreciate your help anyway.

So to be clear...
- If you edit with Photoshop with a file already synced to LR, you are not seeing changes? Do you do an "Edit in PS" from within LR and then a Save?
- Also, can you confirm the LR edits on files NOT edited in PS are working?
Thanks,
Peter

I did a test. From a raw file I made a tiff if LR.
I made a new collection and added this tiff to it and synced to LR Mobile. It showed up as expected.
I made an adjustment in LR which was successfully synced in LRM
I then did an Edit in Photoshop via LR and the edit appeared in LR as expected, but the PS edit did not appear in LRM.
I then made another edit on that image in LR which did appear in the synced version in LRM (the PS edit did not appear still).
I closed and opened LRM on my iPad but the only edits were those made in LR, not PS.
This has been happening for some months and seems consistent.
Thanks again for your help,
Dayve

I've been experiencing the same problem as Dayve here for a few months.
I have Lightroom Classic CC 7.1 on Mac, Lightroom CC 1.1 on Mac, and Lightroom CC 3.1.0 on iOS.
On any synced photo, but in my case it will always be a JPG, if I make LR adjustments via Develop or rename the file via the Library menu in Lightroom Classic, those changes are synced to Lightroom CC on Mac and iOS within seconds.
If I make direct edits to the original photo in Photoshop via "Edit Photo in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018" with "Edit Original" selected, those changes will show up in Lightroom Classic as soon as I view it in the Loupe, but even though I can see LR Classic "Syncing 1 Photo" due to the photo being in a synced collection, Lightroom CC on Mac and iOS continue to display the pre-PS-edit version.
It's like the Smart Preview doesn't get updated and/or the cloud version is cached and will not refresh, but either way there's no way I can figure out to push those edits across.
Let me know if there are any questions.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom

If I make an adjustment in Lightroom, it updates across all platforms immediately, but in LRM and Portfolio the adjustment is applied to the old image being displayed prior to the saved Photoshop edit.
This needs a fix. Any ideas?

Do you see the image (edited in Photoshop, and synced from Lightroom Classic ) in https://lightroom.adobe.com/ ?
Also, do you see the issue even if you select 'Edit as a Copy' or 'Edit as a copy with Lightroom Adjustments' ?
Thanks,
Arjun

I see only the initially synced image in adobe.com, no other updates to that. I haven’t tried edit as a copy as I want to edit the original. What I have done is saved an edited version in PS with a different name, added that file to the synced collection and it has synced to adobe.com & LRM.

Using "Edit Original", I do not see the Photoshop edits on lightroom.adobe.com. Lightroom Classic adjustments show up immediately on refresh, but they are applied to a pre-photoshop version of the image. Lightroom Classic correctly displays the Photoshop edited version (after a brief flash of the original showing through, like Dayve also mentioned), but the Adobe Lightroom website, my Adobe Portfolio, and Lightroom CC (Mac and iOS) are all stuck with the original unedited version.
In response to your second question, if I select "Edit as a Copy", the new "Filename-Edit.jpg" image is actually added to the synced Lightroom collection immediately, stacked with the original, and also opened in Photoshop. So, before saving any new PS edits, I checked lightroom.adobe.com and the new copy shows up and correctly displays the previous edits that had not pushed over from the original. Going back to Photoshop, when I edit further and then save that file, those new PS edits also immediately appeared on lightroom.adobe.com. This is good.
As a further test, I selected "Edit Original" on the new copy of the image in LR Classic, did some new PS edits, saved the file, went to lightroom.adobe.com, and the edits showed up! Then I tested "Edit Original" on the first image and those edits still do not show up. Somehow the new JPG behaves differently than the original JPG? Very strange, but this is a possible workaround for the issue as it stands.
Overall, I know that non-destructive editing and avoiding saving JPGs multiple times are industry guidelines, but in the workflow that I have set up, exporting my DNGs from one library as JPGs to another library and then maybe doing one pass of PS edits on those JPGs without creating stacks or copies worked perfectly for me, until this sync issue came up!
To any Adobe employees, would you agree that sync is not working as intended?
To Arjun, thank you for the help in finding a workaround, regardless.
-Tom

The problem I have is that I'm working on psb files which LR can't import. I have to create a linked file which can be imported (and, once opened via LR can open up the original psb file). If I open a copy of the linked file then I'm not sure it will be linked to the original psb file so I'm still a little stuffed in this respect. It's a great work-a-round for other files though but I wonder if you have layers in the original that they will be flattened in the copy?
