Lightroom Mobile for ALL mobile devices

Lightroom Mobile is not designed for mobile devices like the Microsoft Surface Book or Apple laptops.   I think a change is needed.  Adobe could develop a Lightroom Mobile app for Windows 10 and another for MacOS and this would solve the problem.  OR Adobe could designate a laptop LR catalog to be in target only mode to receive and contribute to a Master LR catalog that is designated as the source.

You don't need to lightroom mobile on your computer, you have Lightroom! Just make smart previews, and copy the catalog (the entire folder really)to the same location that's on your desktop. Then edit on the laptop, and then copy the catalog back to your desktop, voilà! I used to do this on a daily basis! You could also bring the photos you want to edit on a portable drive, in the same folder structure that's on your computer, then copy them back too.

Why not keep the catalogue and dng files on a portable drive that can be moved between machines? Or just keep the catalogue on a portable drive / SD card and use the smart previews to edit?

I like the idea. Although it's possible to do through catalog transfer, that's beyond the skill level of many users.

Well, I figured it out because I'm a Mac IT guy, yes, but Ben Long (on Lynda.com) also shows you how to do this in his "Practicing Photographer" class. He carries around a drive, but I just do the edits on my laptop and then copy the catalog (folder) back, replacing the one of my desktop (so the edits are there and applied to the originals.)

I DO use Lightroom Mobile also, but it doesn't show the clipped highlights and shadows!

You know you CAN do that? It's a two-finger on the slider job, for Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Blacks, Whites... possibly Contrast too, you'd have to check that.

Thanks Victoria, you learn something every day!

Now they go and ruin the interface? Just saw the recent version for iPhone, the sliders cover a third of the photo? What was so wrong with the sliders the full width of the screen and ON the screen? It gave you finer control, I guess that was bad? Adobe's GUI designs just got worse! I'll have to check my iPad when I get home, did they ruin that too?

They didn't ruin the iPad one... yet. I'm not a big fan of the changes either, although the sliders are growing on me. I really miss the swipe for rating though.

Tell them they screwed up and put the old version back! That everyone hates it! They'll listen to you, right? One could only hope!

Have you tried the mobile website, it's just like the app in your browser: https://lightroom.adobe.com

The mobile website is good, has the advantage that I can use a calibrated screen, but even on 100Mbs leased line,  response is very sluggish. I'm sure it will get better!
