Lightroom: Issue with XMP AlreadyApplied field incorrectly marked as TRUE in some JPEGS in Lightroom CC
I've encountered a bug and have narrowed down what is happening with the help of John R. Ellis.
Some of the JPEGs that I have edited in Lightroom CC, exported as "Original + Settings" and subsequently imported into Lightroom Classic are not showing the adjustments that I have made when I open them in Develop. You can see a video of this happening here:
John noticed that field AlreadyApplied was marked as TRUE in those images, even though the edits have not been written to the underlying JPEG. Here is a link to the image that John looked at: http://jonanscher.com/resources/DSCF9619.JPG
Here is my version info:

Thus-far, I have been unable to replicate:
I tested like this.
1. Select JPEG (iPhone capture synced via direct cable connect add)
2. Edit
3. Save to: Original plus settings
4. Rename file on disk
5. Add to LrCC 1.5
Edit settings from step 2 are intact on newly imported version. . I am also using 10.13.6
6. Rename file from Step 3.
7. Import to Lightroom Classic CC 7.5
Edit settings from step 2 are intact.

I have tried three different photos (iPhone, Canon 5D Mark II and an image I grabbed off the web. They all work as expected.

I have to ask this question: "exported from LRCC desktop, auto-imported to Classic."
Is there are a reason you don't allow them to simply sync into Lightroom Classic CC direct from your iPad? That would be the preferred workflow in my mind. I've not encountered many workflows where an iPad to LrCC Desktop to export to Lightroom Classic workflow was required and I am struggling to understand the 'why' of it.
Also "auto-imported"? Is this a Watched Folder import?
