Lightroom: Internal error occurred string ["PLService.lua"]:193: attempt to index field photos to export (a nil value) (Unable to export)

Trying to export an image to jpg. It would not export. Received error message as follows:
Internal error occurred
string ["PLService.lua"]:193: attempt to index field photos to export (a nil value)

(Unable to export) Then it repeats the message above: string ["PLService.lua"]... etc. etc.

Highlighted 1 image in "develop" mode to export. Clicked through the process to do that and received the error, repeatedly. I had just exported a copy of the same image with a different crop. Not sure why this is happening. Closed LR, then reopened but still export failed. Running LR 3.4.1 64-bit version. Thanks

Deborah, can you please open the Export dialog box, and in the Export to: pop-up menu at the very top, check to make sure Hard Disk is selected. If it is not, can you please let me know what is selected? Then change it to Hard disk and try exporting again.

Which export service were you using?

Export To: _________________

Hard Drive? or a plugin??

Might help to post a screen shot of your export settings as well... (and plugin-manager settings if applicable).

Windows or Mac?

FWIW, there is no PLService.lua anywhere in the LR code base, and all of our Lua code is compiled and stripped so there's no line numbers. So the error appears to be from a a plugin. I don't recognize the name, so I don't know which one, though.

Windows 7 64-bit
Exporting to portable HD - same place where originals are stored to make a low res jpg from the processed dng file.
I recently bought Perfect Layers plug-in from OnOne - maybe that's the problem. PL = Perfect Layers.

Do I remove it to see if the problem goes away, then re-install it to see if it comes back? Export was working a moment before that.

Once you get to a point where you can faithfully reproduce problem behavior, make sure you report problem to onOne - it's the Perfect Layers plugin that's reporting the error, and they need to fix their error handling even if the root cause is elsewhere...

Happened to take a glance at the folder I was exporting the photos into this morning and found that the export actually took after all in spite of the strange error message. I have several copies of the image since I tried it several times and told it to put a different name on dupes. LOL

All may not be well but it seems like at least I can get the photos exported into jpgs as I need them. Now to address the strange plug-in error message that shouldn't be showing up!

Are you saying PLService.lua reported an error when the target of your export was *not* "Perfect Layers"? - was a previous "Perfect Layers" export still in progress somehow?

I was not using/trying to export to Perfect Layers at all, correct. I was just doing a simple export of a processed dng file to a low res jpg. Not at all involved with the installed Perfect Layers plug-in at the time. Neither do I think I ever used PL on these images by the way. Does that help?

Yes - it makes a difference if a previously initiated PL export hadn't "cleared" yet (was still pending) when the error occurred, even if that export was started a long time before. But, it sounds like the ball is in onOne's court at this point.

I have forwarded the error message to OnOne as of today to let them know what went on. Not sure I can replicate it or not. Don't have time to try exporting other images today. Have other work to do right now with a deadline not related to using LR.

Erik, try Tina's solution above. You just have to choose Hard Disk in the Export to: pop up menu at the top of the Export dialog, not Perfect Layers.
