Star ratings in-camera WILL migrate to Adobe products under this scenario:
Shoot to CF card
Star rate images in camera on CF card
Physically remove CF card
Put CF card into card reader connected to Mac
Copy images to filesystem
Convert to DNG using DNG Converter 7.6 beta
Ingest into Lightroom v4
However, camera-generated star ratings somehow get stripped in this scenario:
Shoot to CF card
Star rate images in camera on CF card
Copy star-rated images from CF to SD Eye-Fi card
Transfer images from Eye-Fi card to Mac using Eye-Fi Center v3.4.24
Convert to DNG using DNG Converter 7.6 beta
Ingest into Lightroom v4
I tested RAW, mRAW and sRAW images, all with the same results.

When I shoot CR2, convert to .jpg in camera and then transfer via Eye-Fi, the star ratings are preserved.

I am an engineer at Eye-Fi. I have been working with Rick on this issue.
Could you try the following workflow and let me know what happens:
Shoot to CF card
Star rate images in camera on CF card
Copy star-rated images from CF to SD Eye-Fi card
Transfer images from Eye-Fi card manually via USB card reader to Mac
Convert to DNG using DNG Converter 7.6 beta
Ingest into Lightroom v4

Lightroom released RC 4.1 today (with mark III support) and so far I'm not having any trouble with it importing the mark III CR2 files that have been transferred via wifi with the embedded star ratings.
Hope this helps

I can't see that ratings transfer to Adobe Lightroom 4.1, but they do transfer to Canon DPP just fine. Think I've looked through all EXIF and IPTC fields and can't find the data anywhere. Where is it supposed to show in Lightroom?
My workflow:
- Rate RAW images in EOS 5D Mark III on compact flash
- Remove compact flash form 5D and plug in to Hama USB card reader.
- Import in Lightroom 4.1 using LR's import function on Windows Vista 32-bit SP3
I can't see any ratings in LR, but when looking at the images in DPP the ratings are there.
Any help on this issue would be great.

My workflow:
- Rate RAW images in EOS 5D Mark III on compact flash
- Remove compact flash from 5D and plug in to Kingston USB 3.0 card reader and transfer RAW files to my hard drive.
- Import in Lightroom 4.1 using LR's import function on Windows 7 64bit.
Why is this thread marked as solved???

Import star ratings from Canon cameras into Lightroom.
I would like to see an import setting, where you can import star ratings when importing images into Lightroom - I use a Canon 5DIII and this would help speed up my workflow :)

The most effective way to troubleshoot this: Upload a sample pic to Dropbox (or similar) loaded directly from the camera card using Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer. Post the link here, and we can take a look at where the camera is putting the star rating.

Dear community,
I own a new Canon EOS M50, Lightroom is importing the CR3 files without any problems, but I miss the stars rating, before indicated direcly on camera. If I look to the files with the DPP4 tool of Canon I see them, but none rating indication is visible on LR CC.
Here a link to an example file with rating 5 stars in camera:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbvickh5m9vf0r9/IMG_0249.CR3?dl=0
I think that is a bug of LR CC. Maybe somebody has an idea or workaround... At least it should be known and be fixed in a future release.
Thanks in advance & Kind Regards,
Simone

I saw that my topic has been merged with this. Anyway I have not any issue with .CR2 file taken with 5DIII & 70D, the problem is only for the .CR3 of new EOS M50.
Thank you in advance,
Simone
