Lightroom: How do I migrate my Flickr albums into Lightroom Classic or Lightroom CC

Hello, as I am beginning to use Lightroom trying to figure which version should I adopt, the Classic or the New Lightroom CC. However, one issue i was trying to find out as I migrated my iPhotos library into the LR catalog  - why could not do the same with my 10,000 photos I have stored on Flickr ?! Any solution ?

Many thanks,

Hanani

I have photos in Flickr, but they are also on my external hard drives.  So, I've never wanted to copy them into Lightroom (that would be duplication).  That said, I used Aperture before Apple terminated it and recommended everyone switch to LR.  Over the years, I've continued to use what is now LR Classic.  I'm comfortable with the on-disk folder structure using multiple external drives (and a couple of 8Tb backup drives to backup the smaller externals).  I've seen no reason to start using the LR Cloud version.

@Richard, you can't copy photo's into Lightroom. They just stay where they are, if you use Add during Import. You only create entries in your Lightroom Catalog which point to the photo's where they are now. So that's certainly not a duplication!! But it makes them 'reachable' for Lightroom.

Sorry, I should have said import into Lightroom.  By duplication, I meant every photo in Flickr is also on a hard drive and in a LR catalog.

Thanks! I’ll try to download Flickr albums and then migrate into the LR.

I’m trying to figure since it’s my beginning- should I establish the catalog on an external HD or keep it on my MBP.

Thanks again

My LR catalog is on my MBP in a folder that is backed up with Time Machine.  Personally, I've got 4 (1 or 2 Tb) external drives for photos while my wife just started using her 7th.  She takes way more photos than I do when we're in the field and rarely deletes any.  I think it would be a hassle to have to manage catalogs on each external hard drive.  Just be sure there is a backup.
