Lightroom? Filter/sort picture with rating on import

Hello,

New camera (as an example: Canon EOS 5D Mark III) allows to rate pictures. Others sources (customers, partners, etc..) rates pictures as well.

Would it be possible to filter or sort picture from the rating in the import dialog.

Exemple: I do shooting on location, the client choose on the camera the wished picture. Back in studio I only import the selected pictures.

Discuss :-)

Find a way to mark those pictures with metadata so you can find them post-import, but don't throw away images that were only selected by viewing a cropped in-camera JPEG.

The problem with camera makers is that they insist on using proprietary metadata for this sort of thing. Those ratings are probably in the maker notes, so you might need a custom metadataplugin to access them.

Well, the CR2 files are in the Canon format. Lightroom can read the RAW data and 99% the metadata.

As a result, Reading 99,5% (Rating, Auto Lightening, HDR mode...) should only be a small work.

Moreover, I guess Canon would give to Adobe the appropriate documentation (with NDA).
