Lightroom: Fetch Altitude For Coordinates doesn't display altitude
The Fetch Altitude For Coordinates button (to the right of Altitude in the Metadata > Location panel) doesn't display the fetched altitude when multiple photos are selected in the Map module's filmstrip. To reproduce:
1. Select three photos that don't have any GPS coordinates or altitude set.
2. Go to the Map module.
3. Drag the three photos to some point on the map.
4. Click the Fetch Altitude For Coordinates button.
5. Observe that Altitude incorrectly remains blank.
6. Select each of the photos individually and observe that Altitude is filled in from the map.
7. Select all three photos and observe that the Altitude now appears filled in.
Tested on LR 8.2 / Mac OS 10.13.6.

Two years ago, several of us reproduced the bug, indicating it wasn't then an issue of individual corrupt preferences.
Now, I can reproduce it on my main LR 10 installation, but not in a virgin one in a virtual machine. And in my main installation, the problem goes away after resetting preferences.
I'll mark this as closed.

Are you facing this all the time or intermitently?

Can't believe this hasn't been fixed after almost two years.

@smit_k ,
This is happening to me with LrC 10.0, but not every time. It's a bit random. The steps below seem to be repeatable for the location I'm using.
1. Create a new catalogue.
2. Import a small number of RAW photos that don't have GPS coordinates. I'm importing Nikon D750 NEF files.
3. Switch to the Map module and locate the position that the images were taken.
4. Select all the images, drag and drop them on the map.
5. Click Fetch Altitude for coordinates. In my case, nothing is filled in.
It is this last step that is so random. Sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it does.
6. Deselect the photo group pin, deselecting the photos. This momentarily shows the Altitude before displaying 'No photos selected'. Select the photo group pin again and the Altitude is filled in.
If I now undo all this using Ctrl-z on my Windows 10 machine until I'm back in the Library module, then repeat it, I get the same result.
When I've clicked Fetch Altitude for coordinates for the selected photos and nothing displays, then select the most selected photo in the Film Strip, the Altitude still does not appear. However, if I click a photo other than the most selected in the Film Strip, the Altitude is displayed.
This strongly suggests to me a screen rendering/updating issue.
