Lightroom: Export to TIFF of a virtual copy and its orginal file fails when doing 'edit in ...'
When editing a file and a virtual copy of that same file in another application (eg photomatix) the export to TIFF fails to generate 2 TIFF files because LR wants to use the same filename for both TIFFs. LR first generates the TIFF of the actual file and then overwrites the TIFF with the virtual copy.
Proper behaviour would be that LR detects the filename is already used and generates a unique name.

Result:
Edit in PSE hangs after having created a TIFF file for the VC, no TIFF file for the orignal is ever created (status bar indicates 50%).
Workaround:
Use {Copy name} as part of the filename template for external edits.
If I use the same two images (the original and the VC) in external edits one after the other (only having one image selected for each edit), LR creates a TIFF filename with a "-2" suffix added to the filename for the VC.

I think we are looking at two slightly differnt, although related issues here.
Johan and I experience the problem when launching an external editor which needs TIFFs to be passed to it, hence rendered by LR before launching the external editor.
On my system, if I call the external editor with one call for two images (the original AND the VC selected), only one TIFF gets rendered and the "Edit in" then hangs.
If I'm calling the external editor with two calls (one for the orginal and one for the VC), the second TIFF filename gets suffixed by "-2".
What you're reporting is an issue when saving a TIFF back from CS, which (I guess) is not passed a TIFF to begin with.
Try sending two TIFF (with one "Edit in" call" to an external editor which requires a rendered TIFF to be passed to get the same results.
