Lightroom: Develop module: never auto-dismiss current image

Current situation: LR4.3 may grab an image out of your develop editing hands, when
* you are working inside a watched folder and have auto-import on, and a new file arrives
* you are working from a smart collection "images have no adjustments", which is no longer true after the first move of a slider

This is very annoying and contrary to the purpose.
I request that only the user releases an image from current develop editing, either by selecting a different image or changing out of develop module.
No automatic mechanism should be allowed to do that!

Oh yes, for smart collection this other topic overlaps. I just did not find it by my search criteria...

But it does not cover the topic of developing content of a watched folder, where you get disturbed by new arrivals, does it?

I suggest you add your observations to that thread, including watched folders.

Vote for that thread - I think it's more relevant than John's.. No offence John.

Those use cases have the same underlying problem: LR automatically reevaluates the criteria defining the photo currently selected in Develop (filters, smart collections, auto-import), changing the photo being edited.

I've cross-referenced the topics.

To me - two separate requests. The outcome is the same, but the causes are different.

It's very possible that the underying architectural cause and the fix could well be the same. LR is automatically reevaluating the criteria determining the photo selected in Develop. There could be one core fix that addresses reevaluation of filters, smart collections, and auto-import criteria.

In case of smart collections, selection of a new image is the effect of active image disappearing from the collection as a result of it no longer matching the criteria. This is not the case for auto import. To me, this is the principal difference.

Agreed that's the difference.
