Lightroom Desktop: Is there no way to build 1:1 previews that stay at 1:1?

I have upgraded from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom CC. Is there no way to build 1:1 previews that stay at 1:1? I like 1:1 previews to compare sharpness one image to another but can't do that now because every time I switch to another image I have to wait for the preview to rebuild 1:1. Its an incredible waste of time and virtually impossible to compare one image to another at 1:1. Is there some other way to deal with this that I don't know about? In LR 5 I would import at with standard previews, edit down and build the important photos at 1:1. I have found no way to do that now or even import at 1:1.

You must switch to the library module....
Then go library menu > previews > built 1:1 previews.
Cant remember if you need to select images first.

However you can also select to do 1:1 previews at import.

TangCanada,
You are describing Lightroom Classic. I had Lightroom CC. I have now switched to Classic.

These functions exist in Lightroom Classic but not Lightroom Desktop. If they are necessary for your workflow, you may need to use Lightroom Classic (it is the successor to your LIghtroom 5)

I was about to mention the "Never" choice for removing 1:1 previews but that is of course only in Classic...which runs on the "Desktop" but isn't the Lightroom Desktop of course...and so on...

 ;-)

Can I apply for a job with the Adobe product naming committee?

Rikk, You are correct. I thought by using Lightroom CC I was using the latest best thing and Lightroom Classic was old. If I had understood the differences from the beginning I would have got Classic and had no problems.

Technically...
Lightroom and Lightroom Classic are both the latest. Two different programs for two different audiences.

BTW - we no longer have the CC in the name of any Adobe Apps.

Glad you are back working and have what you need.

How much more nonsensical can Adobe get naming the same program Lightroom Classic and lightroom Desktop when both are for different audiences yet both are desktop? I mean like how much more????

Even I am confused and I know the difference but when others post how are we to know that they know the difference so we can help answer correctly? Dammit.

Hey Rikk,
I saw CC or Creative Cloud somewhere but I do now see that the Lightroom I was calling CC does not have CC in the name. So what I was calling Lightroom CC is just Lightroom or Lightroom Desktop?
Thanks
