Lightroom: Crashes when opening Import dialog (Bitcasa issue)

Hi Anthony,

In looking at your video, I see that you have a number of drives and devices connected. What happens if you disconnect the Bitcasa Infinite Drive and the D3100, and remove the disc in the DVD drive? Does the crash go away? If so, try reconnecting each of those items one at a time to see which causes the crash.

I certainly will do that soon. However, I'm still expecting Lightroom to crash because it did the same thing months ago when I had the trial version of Lightroom, before I had the D3100 or Bitcasa drive. That's why I gave up on Lightroom until recently. But I'm definitely going to test after my backups complete.

Ben, I tested Lightroom as requested, and made the discovery that Bitcasa was indeed crashing Lightroom. Here's the video -> http://youtu.be/AqU4esq5Tyw

I also discovered a simple work around so I could access my bitcasa during import -> http://youtu.be/RlSix5sdKaU

But, as noted in the video though, I was able to open the import dialog several times before when I first installed Lightroom. Maybe now that I have resources in my catalog that are on the Bitcasa drive it may be hanging up the system?

I'm glad you've been able to identify the cause, and figure out a workaround. I've passed this information on to the Lightroom engineers to see if there's something we can do to fix this issue.

If you update to the latest Bitcasa v1.1.6.18, do you still see the crash?

I just upgrade to latest version of Bitcasa v1.1.6.18. Lightroom is still crashing when opening the Import dialog.

Unfornately I wasn't able to reproduce the crash using Lr 5.3 (64 bit) on Windows 7. I am thinking there might be files in your Bitcasa folder that causes Lr to crash. Could you help to narrow it down to the problematic file?
