Lightroom Classic: Will not launch, it keeps saying another service already has Catalog 2 open, close this copy and try again?

Catalog 2 will not launch, it keeps saying another copy is already open and to close it. Noting else is showing naywhere so not sure what has catalog 2 open? I tried doing a restore to an earlier time on my computer but this didn't help.

Find the catalog and see if there's a lrcat.lock file next to it. If there is, and LR's closed, delete it. Then try opening it again.

Thank you for your suggestion. There was no lock that I could see. I did manage to finally get it to launch but the last folder of images I was working on was not there.
I have them on on my CF card I will just have to load and reprocess again.

It opened with the backup folder so still not working correctly.

Make sure that you are opening your most current catalog. It sounds possible that you were trying to open one of your backup catalog.

There was .lcartlock file next to my catalog, i deleeted it and everything is fine now.

when i try to open my main catalog i am told that another program already has it open and I can't open it :( I have since made a new catalog but it is so frustrating to both deal with the super slow operation in LR and then now this. 
there does just not seem to be an end to problems they make with LR

tools are unusable, I make adjustments, unseen, with sliders and then wait for preview to catch up when ever it feels like showing me the adjustments, anywhere from 2-25 seconds.

Guess work with spot healing tool to hit the right spot since it lags in 10's of seconds 

please get your act together!!

My Lightroom has stopped letting me entering my last worked catalog.Worked fine one evening,but not the next morning.It seemed to have played up since a recent windows 10 update.
I get a window of info of the catalog saying Lightroom can not be use catalog named..... because it is not wrightable and cannot be opened.It tells me to select another catalog,but I am not able to find the files that I was working on.
Any idea's please.

I cannot open LR classic on my laptop. I get a message saying "Lightroom catalog - 2 cannot be opened because another application already has it opened" Help please.
