Lightroom Classic: Watermark alignment not working

went to edit my export which was set up with a text watermark that aligns to the left however changing it to right or centre align fails to make any change.

That's just the alignment inside the text box. Sounds like what you're looking for though is to set the anchor point. Scroll all the way down in the watermark editor options and you'll find the spot where you can set the anchor point.
