Lightroom Classic: Using/removing parts of layers when working with HDR Photo Merge

I take a clean bracket of 5-7 photos and most of the time I get a pretty good starting point when using Photo Merge HDR.  I do like to crush the blacks a little more and eliminate some of the haze, give a little chroma boost, etc.  But sometimes Lightroom Classic will choose the absolute worst section of those 5-7 photos to use as a "best representation."  How can I simply use a brush to reveal, say, a portion of the 3rd layer/photo to bring it to the top, and maybe do that again to bring a different area of the 4th layer/photo to the forefront?  I'd prefer to not have to do this manually by selection the various areas from each photo I want, applying a feather blend, etc.  Am I missing something?  Thank you.

The short answer is no, you're not missing anything. Lightroom Classic does not allow for any manual intervention when doing merges. Apart from warping edges in Panorama merges.

Thank you.  Too bad.
