Lightroom Classic: Unusual syncing virtual copies from CC as local originals
Hi,
I've just come across a really strange issue with syncing virtual copies from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom CC.
Initially I've recently migrated my Lightroom Classic catalogue into Lightroom CC, and synced it all, so that there is a matching set of Folders and Albums in CC to the Collections Sets and Collections in Classic. Works a charm.
No, it's a bit of a round-a-bout workflow here, thus:
Up until the most recent import, all the virtual copies had been converted to full copies by Lightroom CC, so that they're all local and cloud stored originals.
The most recent import were only the original Raws imported to CC, then the B&W versions were created in Classic as Virtual copies, and then synced to CC.
Now, comes the issue. I expected the virtual copies to sync to CC as smart previews, which they did, mostly. Except one image in each of the Collections I synced ended up as a fully backed up copy in the cloud and locally (as I have local storage activated).
Here's a screen shot of the Classic Collection, showing them all as virtual copies:

And here is a screen shot of the CC Album, showing the first image as backed up and synced (Status also says it's backed up and saved locally):

Now, I don't mind if it does this, but I didn't think this was even possible?
Any suggestions.

No, it's a bit of a round-a-bout workflow here, thus:
- I've imported all the original Nikon Raws into Lightroom CC, allowed them to sync to the cloud, and then synced them into Lightroom Classic.
- I then moved them into Folders in Classic, and created my usual archive Collection set/Collections for working on the images, and syncing the edits back to Lightroom CC (this has been working perfectly so far.
- Once the Originals are synced, I create collections for various versions, Raws, JPEGs, External Edits and B&W conversions (usually virtual copies), and sync those back to CC where I file them into Folders.

Did you only synced the virtual copies or virtual copies along with the original one ?

I imported the originals into Lightroom CC. I then allowed them to sync into Lightroom Classic, where I moved them into my folder system, and then created the virtual copies, and then allowed those to sync back in the CC ecosystem.
Only the first image in each collection/album has appeared as a locally stored original in CC, the rest are 'synced from Lightroom Classic' 'Smart Preview only'. The originals are all synced before I created the virtual copies.
