Lightroom Classic: Swap panels for Left-Handers

I'm a left-hander, and I find that using a Wacom tablet with Lightroom is incredibly cumbersome at times. This is due to the fact that all of the develop panels are on the right side of the screen, and accessing them with my pen means crossing my arm all the way across my body to the right so that the pen can access the sliders on the right panel. My idea is to add a "left-handed mode" that would simply swap the location of the left/right panels, making it easier to access the develop (and other currently-right-sided) panels when using a pen tablet.

I was so excited to see the latest update supporting custom panel order only to quickly discover that Adobe ignores the lefties again.  Can't swap left/right.  Come on Adobe.  Really?

This thread was first start 5 years ago and STILL NO update to Lightroom Classic for left-handed users!? This is complete trash. Adobe, if you're reading, PLEASE FIX THIS!

Just posted this message to my social channels and someone redirected me to this site ... great to see i am not alone in this but frustrating that years later we still don't have a proper solution to fix it ...

Several versions of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom over the years yet we still can't change the panels in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to move over to the left hand side of the screen. Being a Left handed user I would love to see this ! Being able to move all of the editing panels over to the left of the screen instead of always on the right.

I have Adobe Photoshop setup so that all of my panels are on the left and love it. (it looks weird to other non left handed folks but works great for me on my Wacom Creatives Europe MSP and Cintiq 27" Displays)

Wake up Adobe....Wacom have just sold a bucket-load of Cintiq 16s to left-handers who are only now just discovering that you don't value them.  We don't care that it involves a bunch of developers to fix - not when our entire hand is covering our screens every time we go for a slider.  We have adapted to a world designed for right-handers, but this one is too much.  I am genuinely "annoyed at you" for the first time in many years.  Please use our subscription money to make your products usable for all.  Imagine 17% of your users collectively rejoicing that someone thought of their needs for once.

Hi everyone,

Also a leftie here and I find it unbelievable to see that Adobe has not thought about such a feature swapping the panels... It becomes really difficult not to say impossible to edit photos "on the go" with a stylus.

You can now reorder the Develop module sub-panels, so why is it not possible to have the panels switch sides? I am no programmer, but I cannot see why it should be so difficult to achieve what so many other applications have allowed for years. My interest is Lightroom Classic on Windows. I put my Photoshop panels on the left side, which makes it much easier for me to use. Why not Lightroom?

Just having floating panels as in PS would work? How many years has this thread been on here and still nothing.

I have been using Lightroom for years on a PC and recently upgraded to an iMac.  I was thrilled when I found out I could use my iPad pro as an editing tablet with Lightroom.  But I am SO DISSAPPOINTED that I am unable to swap the TOOLS to the Left side of the screen.  Editing on a tablet as a left handed person positions your hand on top of the photo you are working on... How is that helpful???  Please add the ability to swap sides.  How hard could that be???

radamo77, great news. You already can on iPad. Go to Preferences (cog icon) > Gesture Shortcuts and you'll find the switch in there.

First off, thank you!  I actually found that!  Don't see it for Photoshop (but use it less often).  I think I did not originally notice this on the ipad version of LR since I was using "sidecar" to try to edit on my ipad while seeing the result on my iMac. So it was really just showing the iMac screen on the iPad.  I don't see how to use the iPad version of LR while showing on the iMac.  Will have to play some more.

A left-handed mode (i.e. scrollbar on the left, option for panel and tool locations) for all of Adobe Software would be absolutely wonderful.

Sure, lefties are a small 10% of the population, but we are some of history's most influential folks - Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Einstein, Bill Gates, and Aristotle were/are lefties.

Through we're pretty used to adapting and thriving in the right-handed world, Adobe CC could cut us Lefties a break.

Or charge us half price for a product that is clearly NOT designed for our use.

Clearly it is due to this being such a low cost product... NOT!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom Classic: Customize workspace.

Can i move the Module that are normally on the right to be on the left?  Ive added a new Apple XDR and am using two monitors in LR.  This puts the Develop Module way out in right field.  Can it be moved to the left side?  Thanks

Adoba please implement this. It's nearly impossible to use a tablet for left-handers. Is it really so hard to implement?

Hello, also a leftie here... And I add my voice to this group. I just discovered that Ipad users have the function already so why not Android ?

It is already difficult to be a left handed person in right handed world but seriously COME ON, don't you have anybody left handed in your team that can explain why this is the MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE TO ADD right now ?

Thanks.

Left-handedness is a "divsersity issue" to those of us who are left-handed.  C'mon Adobe.
