Lightroom Classic: Stuck on syncing. Rebuild sync data did not help.

Hello, my lightroom classic cc (latest version 8.4) on Mac was stuck on syncing several photos. I read about hot to resolve the issue. I paused syncing, restarted lightroom, the laptop, the internet, then nothing happened. Then I pressed rebuild sync data. The images started to sync again but now it's stuck on syncing even more images. Also edits I make to some collections don't get synced to the cloud as well. This is crucial to my work, so I need a fast fix. Deleting all the sync files and uploading them again could not be a solution, as I have over 30 000 images synced. But I cannot sync new images.

Because syncing, even without your issue, slows down Lightroom, I made the following change. I have a SSD dedicated to my Lightroom library and catalog. Then once a day I use software to sync it to my Google Drive folder. So Lightroom is not impacted by synchronization to the cloud and I still have a cloud backup.

Yes, this is a good Idea, but doesn't fix my issue, I will try deleting the sync.lrdata package and I've read that lightroom will rebuild this package after restarting. And this should fix the issue. Hopefully, I am just exporting 1000 images and after this I will try it.

Deleting the sync.lrdata may help. Or it may count down to the number that is stuck. So a couple of other tips....

Try signing out of LR (Help > Sign Out) and then restarting LR while signing in again.

Also, see if you can identify the photos. It may not really matter that LR is saying they haven't synced properly. Alternatively, you may be able to remove them from the synced collection, clearing the message, and then add them back again.

no idea, i tried signing out and than back in, nothing happened, still 1020 images syncing, then i deleted the sync.lrdata, lightroom rebuilded it back again, still 1020 images syncing and i cannot sync new images, nor changes to existing collections make any difference to the cloud data.

Hi,

Can you please generate a Diagnostic report and send it to me (ragrawal@adobe.com). Press and hold the option/alt key in the sync preference tab to get this option.

I've just run into the same problem and been trying everything for a week. It's now affecting my work and I need help.

I've also Rebuild Sync Data three times this week as after each day the "Syncing xx xxx photos" has stalled.

Now I generated the same Diagnostic Report as suggested to Kristian Karaneshev and uploaded it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ndgaw26lqqqwqln/LrSyncDiagnostic.zip?dl=0

Could you take a look on it soon please, ragrawal?

I have 45.558 photos on All Synced Photographs and 234.930 photos in my LR Classic Catalog.

EDIT: I should add that previously I've run into same problem once before Rebuild Sync Data did solve the issue. This time prior to this I had to restore a previous LR Catalog from a backup (there had been a keyboard shortcut misstep that I didn't see soon enough and closed LR before realising I've accidentally changed all 3-to-5 star photos in my LR Library to 1 star ratings).

...and here's a Diagnostic Report from my office desktop (an iMac 27" Late 2013) as the previous Report was from my home laptop (a MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2015):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6z9td7zmvimscl4/LrSyncDiagnostic-iMac.zip?dl=0

Both of my computers now don't sync anything to cloud and when making a new Synced Collection and trying to Make Public there's just a spinner and nothing happens.

After using several cloud services (Amazon, Dropbox, Google and Microsoft but not Adobe), only one of them consistently works for me. All except Google both drop and duplicate files. So my current solution is to have a separate folder for Lightroom which I periodically sync (using Second Copy 9) to a folder within the Google Drive folder.

  1. Amazon does work fine for large commercial accounts but not for little guys like photographers.
  2. The Lightroom folder can be directly sync'd with Google One (formerly Google Drive) but each change in Lightroom (such as moving a slider) results in a change within the Lightroom folder. The file gets locked for a second or two which really slows down editing operations. I also put the Lightroom folder on a separate SSD mounted in a PCIe slot which makes accessing the files faster but this performance improvement is only noticeable with batch processing.

I have the same problem Lightroom Classic doesn't sync. I rebuilded the sync data several times but no success.

I see several different sync numbers.

On top of Lightroom classic 83.891 pictures will be sync. In the sync folder I see 14.487 pictures and in the settings area I see 101.848. Let me say in the cloud with Lightroom CC are >106k. And I want to mention, that in settings uploads/downloads/waiting are shown with 0...

So who can help with this problem?

After waiting for a long time the log in the settings showed an error about not unique names of an album. I renamed the album online via the browser. Now the sync seems to work. Let's see in a few days, if its done then.

Hi everybody,

I am have the same problem as described in this post; unfortunately, I don't see any solution so is it a way for Adobe support team to provide help on this please ?

The diagnostic report is here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/68fx4m5uzmq4l7m/LrSyncDiagnostic.zip?dl=0

I just migrated my data to a Macbook Pro 16", may be an explanation ?

I am also surprised because lightroom is not as fast as expected on this new powerful machine (was almost unusable on my Macbook Pro 15" 2013).

Maybe something is wrong with my catalog ?

I would really appreciate any help.

@Voiz  I've asked engineering to pull down the log file and take a look. I will respond here when they've responded to me.

Rikk, I have the same problem. My album (collection) is not syncing either (or not generating a url).

Could you maybe post the instructions here? It looks like there are al lot of people with the same problem. Thanks and be well. Rene

CaST - the solution for the previous poster was determined from an examination of their Log file.  Their issue's fix will not work for you so posting it would not help you.

I would need very detailed information about your system, installed version, nature of the sync errors before taking that step. RIght now, I have no information from you.

Sadly, I'm having the same issues. I've rebuilt sync data many times, started and stopped lightroom. reimported.. and the issue persists. May I send you logs? It's driving me crazy and sucking time from my work. Thanks!

@jkornblum

This is a pretty ancient thread and likely to be a different issue. Sending a log would be premature at this stage.

My recommendation is that you start a new thread and provide complete system information including:

OS Version

Lightroom Version Number

Number of Assets Synced/Stuck Syncing

A screenshot of your web browser logged into https://lightroom.adobe.com and a list of things you've tried so far.

Thanks!
