Lightroom Classic: Stealing focus on launch

When launching Lightroom 6.7 on Windows 7, it can take a little while to initiate and do it's thing (even loading from a fast SSD).

Normally that'd be fine as I just bring other programs to the foreground and continue with other tasks while it loads in the background. However, I count 3 times where Lightroom steals priority from whatever other program I have just to show me the next step in its loading process. Please make it stop or only do it at the very final step?

All these years later, on a lighting fast Windows 10 machine with 32GB RAM and exclusively solid-state media, and it's still about as big an issue as ever.

I can only hope it's just not possible to fix and that's why it's been left unaddressed. But if that's the case, at least tell us that, Adobe...

I recently filed an(other) official bug report about this issue and it's been acknowledged...

Yeah but to be fair, they haven't had time to deal with this issue because they committed so many people to utterly bollocksing up the menus and general work flow of innocent unsuspecting users of ACR 12.3 in Bridge 10.1.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Is it possible to make LR open in the background (LrC, Windows 10).

Lightroom does not allow me to continue to work in other programs while it is loading, the focus is constantly switched to LrC

I may be dreaming, but LR classic just started up in the background without stealing focus once. Windows 10, 9.4 release, build 202008061458-dbb2971e. Hooray!

Correct - this fix was integrated in 9.4 but not called out on release day.

As this item has been discussed about for 4 years very emotionally and also has annoyed some of us for a long time at every LR start, it would have been really worth being mentioned in the release notes to get you guys some praise for listending to us customers!

good job and thanks for fixing this annoying bug!

Yes Rick, I confirmed that here 2 months ago. Thank you. Now if you could just let us be able to set up multiple, named crop presets that would be excellent :-)
