Lightroom Classic: Stalls/freezes on applying label filter

When I try to apply a filter on a color label, litghtroom  (version 7.5) is caught in a loop trying to bring up the grid display. I it constantly brings up the label "Labeled Yellow", removing it, bringing it up again and so on until I kill the process. The latter is kind of difficult because lightroom keeps bringing itself to front.
This problem does not occur every time but I have to restart lightroom constantly when I use filter on color label. I cannot say if other types of filters are affected.

Is there any workaround?
