Lightroom Classic: Needs to be restarted after 5-7 Pano Merges

This has made it possible to work again, but it seems I can only do 5-7 HDR pano merges before the merge freezes up and I have to restart Lightroom.Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Lightroom/Camera Raw: Cannot merge panorama after updating to 10.14.6.

I was going to post something similar.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom needs to restart between pano merges.

FYI, I have found that although a merge is now working (even with very large file sets), it is not possible to merge 2 separate panoramas in a row without restarting Lightroom.

Thanks for creating this thread. I have found that a second panorama will not complete after I have created any panorama. I also noted that where the first panorama will use multi cpu’s (> 300% cpu usage) on the second attempt it will only use 100% and will hang in the same way prior to the apple supplementary OS update. The workaround is to restart LR between every pano merge. Frequently I’ll capture over 20 panos in a shoot so this is a bit of a pain, but so long as I remember to restart it’s a viable workaround. Would be good to see a resolution to this though.

Tod, James - how much free space on your hard disks?
Are you both 10.14.6 (with update installed)?

Please direct me to the Adobe documentation that tells us what resources Photo Merge uses. RAM?CACHE? What particular CACHE, Temp space, OS Paging file? Particular hard drive space? Hard drive catalog resides on? Hard drive space photos reside on?

>100gb Rikk. After the first merge this can drop to 80-90 depending on the content of the first pano.

Rikk, I have a 1 TB SSD. When I right click and go into Disk Info I'm at just about 350 GB free.  The related software and OS are both fully updated.

Been a while since there's been any posts on this.  Is anything happening?  I'm trying to wrap up a 3 year project documenting a multi-million dollar home going up.  Lots of panos to create!

I’ve not heard anything and the issue still persists. For me, I have to restart after every pano creation, not after 5-7.

I downloaded Onyx for this OS and used it to clean up my system - caches, cleaning up files, etc. and Lightroom is definitely running better.  4 panos so far and the last one finished as quick as the first one.

So, first evening of heavy editing after running Onyx and I'm back to running into issues after about 5 panos.

Are you still seeing this issue after installing 8.4.1 released last week?

Yes, it is still slowing down.  I am noticing it more now during the Merging-Preview stage than before where it seemed to mostly affect the actual building of the final image.

And for those running MAC OS 10.14.6. Have you installed the supplemental OS update?
