The map module in Lightroom 6.14 will no longer be supported as of Nov 30, 2018   You will have to start using Lightroom Classic 8 to use the map module

That page says you have to 'upgrade'.  This is not an upgrade because it switches us to a subscription model.  Six months of this costs the same as what I paid for LR6 3.5 years ago.  3.5 years of this 'upgrade' will cost 7x the amount, if they don't put the prices up in the meanwhile.  This was supposed to be a perpetual license, and not something that dies.  I could understand if I upgraded operating system and it broke, but I didn't do anything and it broke.  Presumably I can't even try the upgrade and go back later because I suppose it will 'upgrade' my catalogue as well so it can't be opened in LR6 afterwards, losing any subsequent work.

I've been hearing good things about ON1 Photo RAW, and I see their website says in very large letters: Your Replacement to Lightroom & Photoshop Without the Subscription

Totally agree - perpetual license doesn't mean some things will stop working...!  The subscription price is extortion for those that don't use it for business purposes and/or on an intermittent basis.

I absolutely agree! This is outrageous. I understand that at some point older versions of LR are not supported anymore. However, even without additional support, the perpetual license version should continue to be functional. In this case, functionality ceases to exist for me. I have been working with LR since version 1, but will be looking for an alternative now. I am willing to pay a little extra for the subscription version, but as Malc already indicates, the price difference is just too high.

Nothing has changed in LR 6.
It's Google that made a change in Google Maps, making it incompatible with LR6 (and some other applications).

I bought the product from Adobe, not Google. The third party vendors that Adobe have used shouldn’t be my concern.
