Assuming that you always save updates to XMP files, you can just create a new catalog and import the images from the folder. Your updates will be imported with the images.

Oops! Practicing safe Lightroom means backing up the the catalog with every exit and save to XMP. Otherwise one is driving without a seat belt. XMP files are tiny.

First step would be to attempt to restore from a backup.

Next thing to try would be to create a blank catalog and attempt to use the Import from another catalog function to pull the edited images out of the bad catalog where you can use them.

If that is the case you have two options:

1. Recover from your latest backup and redo the work involved since,
2. Send a copy of the catalog to Adobe for a repair attempt (no guarantees that this will fix it)

How would you like to proceed?
