Lightroom Classic: Import is slow after updating

Importing in LIghtroom is  Painfully slow in Classic.  After I upgraded to Classic I am seeing importing going from 2-3 minutes to 10-20 minutes.

Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for anything to start importing.

This is now not a professional option with this decrease in importing speed.

I finally broke away from Lightroom and jumped the boat to Capture One 11 Pro. Yes, I'm an Adobe Cloud subscriber but Adobe doesn't care and I don't want to fight it anymore. I'd rather put money down on something else, that just works and won't give me the same problems I've had over so many years without any address.

And with that, I can finally "Unfollow" this thread and never be bothered by the ever lasting issue that doesn't get resolved for years ... cya!

Importing is slow for me as well. Some stats, if that helps:

9/17: 103 photos, from SD card - 16:32 (copy and import - 8:14)
9/21: 67 photos, from SD card - 11:38 (copy and import - 4:42)
10/13: 129 photos, from SD card - 26:20 (copy and import - 12:27)
10/19: 287 photos, from SD card - 48:25 (copy and import - 29:13)
10/25: 210 photos, from SD card - 40:49 (copy and import - 28:00)

I'm usually current with updates, so the dates reflect pre- and post-version 8.

What OS are you using? Did you upgrade OS between 9/21 and 10/13?

Currently, Windows 10, Version 1083 (OS Biuld 17134.345).

I'm not sure if the version changed since 9/21, but I do try to keep my OS updated, so it's probably whatever was current for MS at the time. (But Windows 10 regardless)

Ok. That question was more of a Mac user question.  My normal first port of call since there are not widespread reports of import slowness with 8.0 on Windows is to test the integrity of your install.  Sometimes the state of your machine at install/update time is a little wonky and a clean reinstall will shake out those issues.

Close Lightroom
Restart the computer
Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom Classic CC
Restart the computer
Install Lightroom Classic CC via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
Restart the computer
Launch Lightroom
Wait 5 minutes

I uninstalled and reinstalled (keeping preferences) Lr from the CC app. Import time is the same - 277 photos, from SD card - 57:00 (copy and import - 36:00)

Ok. Now that the reinstall is complete - let's reset your preferences:

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the import performance improve after resetting the preferences?
