Lightroom Classic: I Cannot Remove Photos From The Disk

In LR Classic, I cannot remove photos from the disk! It will only let me remove them from the Calalog.

Can you give us some symptoms? Is there an error message or do the files just not move to the trash?

There was an error for some external disks, on Macintosh, in the past, but I think that bug was fixed (by Adobe or Apple) a long time ago.

You can only remove photos from disk if you have selected a folder, or the 'All Photographs' or 'Previous Import' collection. Then you will get the dialog that asks you if you want to delete the photo from the disk as well. If you are in a normal collection and you press the delete key, the image will only be removed from that particular collection, not from the catalog. That's why you also don't get that dialog.

If that is not what's happening to you, then you have to give more details about your system, your Lightroom version, and how exactly you try to do this.

As per what Johan said. Though, you can delete from disk within a collection by pressing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+Delete. This will not bring up the delete dialog but it will surely be deleted from disk.

Yes, this key combo is known as 'Splat Delete', and it works anywhere. But be very careful with it!! The images are gone without any chance to 'undo' anything. Just imagine you think you're going to delete one image, but you don't realised that you have actually selected a few hundred (heavily edited) images...
