Lightroom Classic: Has gone slow again
Over Christmas I was going to post a praise of LR Classic CC as it was responding superbly, when using spot removal tool, however it has returned to the hopelessly slow response.
I have turned off synchro, face detection, address lookup & graphics acceleration. I have not changed anything but the difference in performance is massive. I was editing a photo in 5 minutes last week but now it is taking over an hour.
Is there anything else I could change to improve the performance, please?!

Prudent steps would be to:
1. Clean Reinstall the App
2. If necessary reset the preference file.
Lightroom Clean Install Procedure with the current version:
- Close Lightroom
- Restart the computer
- Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom Classic
- Restart the computer
- Install Lightroom Classic via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
- Restart the computer
- Launch Lightroom
- Wait 5 minutes
If performance issues persist after this procedure and reset of your preference file, then it is likely an issue that needs troubleshooting further.A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.Reset Procedure:
1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.Does the performance issue continue after resetting the preferences?

Further investigation appears to show this only happens for one tiff file 19700x12400 pixels. The next file in the series is not affected at all despite being similar in size etc. Very puzzled!

Download the free Onyx (https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html), select the Onyx version for your OS, download, run it, reboot.
In Onyx run almost everything in the Maintenance tab, deselecting things you may not want deleted, like Launch Services . Hit the "Options" button across from Internet and deselect more stuff like Cookies & Other Site Data, Browser History, Form Values, etc. (most of these are OFF by default). If you don’t know what something is, google it, or don’t run it, or ask me), then hit Run Tasks. After it's done it will ask for a reboot.
Also try to fix any directory damage by running Disk First Aid from Disk Utility: boot into Recovery Mode, (hold down Command-R when booting). When you're in Recovery Mode go to the Utilities menu and launch Disk Utility, say Repair Disk. When done go to Apple Menu for Startup disk and restart normally.
If Disk Utility says it can't fix it, run Disk Warrior ($120), (https://www.alsoft.com) from an external boot drive, reboot.
Also just doing a "Safe Boot" can clear out caches (restart, hold down shift until you see "Safe Boot" on the screen, let it fully boot, then reboot normally.
