Lightroom Classic: Freezes during Maps Module Use
I am in the process of editing thousands of images to include geo-referencing metadata. I am encountering a random error when using the Maps module that freezes all activity in this Lightroom module. The error seems to occur when I attempt to select one or more of the thumbnail strip of images to drag into position on the map. During the process of dragging everything freezes. Clicking anywhere inside the Maps module has no effect, it is totally locked up. I can click and get the top menu system to work to change modules back to say, library module. However the app interface is still locked up and nothing happens inside the Library module either. Neither mouse nor keyboard has any effect. Basically the app has 95% crashed and the menu system remains sort of functional. I have to quit the app and relaunch. This problem never used to happen, so has been introduced in a recent update, over the past few months.
This is a catastrophic failure of the app and needs urgent attention from an engineer. I can make a screen video recording to send to Adobe if someone contacts me on this.
This problem has no impact on any other app or service running in the background. My internet connection is not impaired during this either.
This error has occurred many times in a random fashion over the past few weeks using latest version of Lightroom Classic CC on Mac running current Mojave OS. I have a high end iMac 5K 27-inch with 32 Gb RAM and ample storage.
There are also other strange bugs in the maps module such as an intermittent failure of the little orange and yellow tags overlaying the map to properly refresh when I relocate an image, and when I position an image near another already tagged image some times it slips into the same location even when I don't want it to, but want it to be say 3m away.

I am assuming you are on the latest update (ver 8.2). Could you share a screen video of the behaviour you are seeing with the Map module? Also, if you could send us the logs that would be great for us to investigate further. Do you also see similar behaviour if you create a new catalog?
Thanks.

Could you try Right/Context Click on the Map view to assign location data to selected images instead of dragging them? Does the 'freeze' happen in that case also? I see that the problem could occur in Library view also but wanted to confirm if there is a definite action that is triggering it.
