Lightroom Classic: flagging images under survey

this should be easy.  In my initial workflow, l pick a series of similar images to review and make a pass at "X'ing" blurry shots or hideous compositions.  Unfortunately, if I've selected a set in Survey mode, tagging them is all or none.  Hitting the X marks eveything for discard.   Assigning a rating, the same. Could tagging be more discriminating, e.g., Shift "X" would only tag the currently viewed image.  And perhaps, Shift+Control+X would allow you to select a series of the survey set to tag.

I find that NOT to be the case in survey mode but is the case grid mode, which is usually where I do my "X'ing!!!"

Hi,

We have tried to replicate the issue . But in both 9.4 and 10.0, when user hits "X" key, only the selected image is rejected.

Can you confirm the behaviour in 9.4?

Thanks

Lightroom Classic v10 bug: When viewing multiple images in Library Survey Mode, setting a rating or pick or color gets applied to all the images instead of just the primary image. This slows down the process of culling images considerably.

William and Photorobertson,

Please do the menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the first ten lines here.

I too am unable to reproduce the behavior. Try resetting LR's preferences:

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior.

After reading this post I checked and found I was getting the same results as described above  when flagging, rating and labelling in Survey mode. Resetting Lightroom's preferences as suggested here has fixed the issue for me.

Hi Paul,

Can you confirm whether the auto sync is enabled /disabled in survey mode?

Thanks

I did not have Auto Sync enabled either prior to or after resetting preferences.

Just now however, I selected four NEF files, moved to the Develop module, enabled Auto Sync and activated Survey mode. I can still change the flag, rating and label status on individual images without affecting the other images using both the mouse (clicking on the small icons below each images) and keyboard to make the changes.

And as an additional note, prior to resetting preferences I could use the mouse to change the star rating for one image without affecting the other images but changing the flag and colour with the mouse changed all images and using the keyboard changed all three attributes for all images.

Mayuri makes a good point: Verify that you don't have Auto Sync enabled:

(Though even with Auto Sync enabled, changing the star rating under individual thumbnails doesn't change the other photos.)
