Lightroom Classic: Extreme artifacts

I'm using LR 9.2.1 on a 2019 iMac running Mojave OS.  I'm seeing large random areas of color and black artifacts scattered all over the image.  They are present in the library and develop module and persist at every zoom level and when opening into PS.  I've looked through the forum and online.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled LR and PS.  I've tried to update to the latest OS (Catalina) and can't, with extensive help from Apple Support, including reformatting the hard drive.  Still no fix.  RAW files from the SD card imported onto LR (v. 7.5) on my laptop display normally.  See screen shot of RAW file and then a quick editted JPG.  My next step is to try to install an older version of LR.  Any other suggestions?

Could you post a raw file with a sidecar with your settings?

It look like the original Image is corrupt. Generally if you have display problem they disappear when you export. As far as i understand they are still there after export so it could be a image corruption. In LR have you disable the GPU to see if there is  a change ?

You say you can't upgrade to Catalina, but you don't say what happens when you try? At what point does it fail? Are you booting with an external drive, or running Onyx before you try, or trying to fix Directory Damage? That's what I'd do first.

PS-there's sometimes no substitute for a REAL Mac IT guy onsite, the people on Apple Support are just following a script. I think you should hire one, it'll be worth every penny!

Thanks for the reply.  It goes through the whole install and then the restart, then  I get an error message "Storage system verify or repair failed".   Apple support did suggest I take it to an Apple repair store, so I'm doing that.

Update:  took the iMac in.  Upgrade to OS Catalina did not fix the issue.  Motherboard was replaced, and that solved the problem.  Thanks for all your help
