Lightroom Classic: Email account Manager/Validation

The Email Account Manager is showing as "not validated". I use sky/yahoo mail and this is working fine outside LR. I have spoken Twice to Sky and they cannot see any issue and confirm this is not a 2 factor authentication issue.
This has been going on for nearly two months now and cannot find a way to resolve this.
I use and iMac computer and running on Mojave 10.14.6 and LR on its latest version.

Could you please post the exact error message appears when you click the Validate button in the Email Account Manager screen?
To work with Yahoo!, you need to use the third-party app password. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/create-password-sln15241.html

Thanks,
Sunil

Just to clarify, it seems as though John is using the Sky-branded email service that was provided in partnership with Yahoo! (that has closed for new email accounts some time back). So, the issue may not be related to the need for a special app-specific authentication code from Yahoo!'s 2-factor login system (as others have been suggesting) if Sky Yahoo! Mail is still using the old single-factor authentication system.

John: what email settings have you put in LR so that it can connect to your Sky Yahoo! Mail? In particular, did you set it up as described in the section for Computer: Other email apps on the following Sky Yahoo! Mail help page: https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-yahoo-mail/setting-up-yahoo-mail/articles/getting-started-with-sky...

The LR email configuration instructions are on: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom-classic/help/prepare-send-or-post-photos.html

I'm a Sky customer but I don't use Sky Yahoo! Mail (so I cannot create an email account and test using it in my LR Classic), but from the instructions on those two pages, I'm guessing you should configure LR Classic's Email Account Manager as follows:

Service Provider: Other (not Yahoo!)

Outgoing Server Settings:
– SMTP Server: smtp.tools.sky.com
– SMTP Port: 465
– Connection Security: SSL
– Authentication Method: Password

Confidential Settings:
– Email Address: username@sky.com (replace username with your actual Sky Yahoo! email addr)
– Username: Your full Sky Yahoo Mail address e.g. username@sky.com (so same as above)
– Password: Your Sky iD password

Sunil Bhaskan or anyone else – see the following link for further help from Sky regarding Sky Yahoo! Mail connection problems (in case anything there is important in the context of what LR Classic expects): https://www.sky.com/help/articles/problems-accessing-sky-yahoo-mail

Hope this helps...

Then I don't know what else to suggest. I found this thread on another forum (dated in Nov 2019), which suggests that Sky Yahoo! Mail's performance is beginning to get didgy for some users (especially in terms of additional email client app support): https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Email/Anyone-having-issues-accessing-their-sky-emails/td-p/3094685

So, the problem may not be a LR issue, but a Sky Yahoo! Mail issue (and thus, Adobe support may not be able to help). Have a look in the above link to see if any comments there give you ideas of something else to try. For e.g., I noticed your Sky iD password is 10 characters long. Some users were able to solve their 3rd party app access issues by generating a new 16-character app-specific password using Sky's own password generator - you can find details on this thread: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Email/16-character-App-Password-for-Sky-Yahoo-Mail/m-p/3089577#M71149

Apart from that, then this looks like a job for Sky customer support: if they can't sort your connectivity problem out, then it might be time to consider moving your email to another service provider or creating a separate, new email account with another free service (i.e. not Sky) for use with LR Classic only. Good luck!..

What are you using to access Sky outside of Lightroom?  Apple Mail or something else?

Use my Sky/Yahoo mail. Also have been using Apple Mail sometimes but now, after talking to sky again, `I can't use this at all. getting worse rather than better.

Seems that the 16 character auto password has been removed by sky and also they are no longer taking on new mail clients.

Can you email directly from Mac Mail.  If you can you should only have to turn Automation ON for Lightroom Classic in Apple System Preferences and designate Apple Mail in the From field in Lightroom and not fill in the other stuff about servers and things.

I see you are saying you can't use Apple Mail either.  Sounds like its time to start using a different email company.

it works spasmodically, some times yes and other times no.
this is why I stopped using it and went over to using the sky/yahoo mail.

this morning it woi spent hours talking between Apple and Sky and both said it was the other that had to fix it.
