Lightroom Classic: Deleting images from catalog if clicking too rapidly in library

After exporting a set today (200+ images out of 700+ total) + going through them to find last minute tweaks, I noticed something disturbing in LR.  When I was trying to find the right photo, it seemed that if I clicked on something + then clicked on another photo immediately after, the initial photo would disappear.  I thought I was crazy the first time, but then it happened again.

So I cross referenced my exported JPEGs with what was in my LR catalog, and there were 2 JPEGs that didn't show up in LR.  I turned off all filters, went to grid view, they just aren't there, gone.  But, on the bright side, they are still on the disk in the imported location.

So two parts A> can we get a fix for this ASAP.  B> How can I pull those 2 CR2s back into the library / this collection and not break anything else?  I have a ton of time into editing this set and am worried now whatever I do will just make this problem worse.

Sure sounds like you inadvertently clicked something that just removed the image from the filtered view/collection/or whatever you're in, rather than actually removing the image from Lr somehow.  A screenshot of exactly what you're seeing might be helpful.

A> Not to say you didn't stumble on an issue, but the odds of "can we get a fix for this ASAP" are about zero without more info and steps that can be reproduced by others.  If you're able to reproduce the problem and can give the steps for others to try, that's your best chance for getting a bug acknowledged and maybe even eventually getting it fixed.  You should also include your OS and version of Lr.

B> You can use "Synchronize Folder" to have Lr look at a folder and reconcile what's physically on the disk vs. what's in the Lr catalog.  If you actually did manage to remove the two photos from Lr during your clicking, this process will find and reimport them.

For your particular scenario, you'd go to the Lr Folder panel, right-click on the folder where your originals are located and choose "Synchronize Folder..."  If those 2 images aren't in the catalog but are on the disk, you'll see "Import new photos (2)" in the dialog box.  Checking that box and hitting Synchronize will reimport those 2 images.

That's the short version, but if you want more info on the what that function does and the options, I'd recommend doing a quick web search for "lightroom synchronize folder".  You'll find tons of articles and videos out there with more detailed info.

Just happened again today.  Can confirm it's not a drag / drop issue, if I purposely drag/drop something I even get a popup warning me it's going to re-arrange.  I'm still not 100% on what the steps are since I'm not going to purposely try to mess up one of my sets, but it seems like, clicking on the next image when LR is in the middle of an operation.  Saw it go poof, thought maybe I was crazy, confirmed the CR2s jump a number where it was.

I think I might be having a simiiar problem of CR2 and XMP files getting deleted from both the catalog and the disk when exporting single files. I don't know what I've did to confuse Lightroom. It does not matter when the output file type is set to. To test, I tried clicking as fast as possible when exporting but wasn't able to replicate the problem. I couldn't click faster than the export took to complete. I couldn't have typed command option shift delete by accident.

I have new 2019 iMac (1 week old) running Mojave 10.14.6
and am using Lightroom Classic 9.1 with Camera Raw 12.1

Thanks
