Lightroom Classic: Crop tool - display the cropped size

That's good, and I have that set. The problem is it doesn't show the information while you are cropping. You have to let go of the tool and then look at the information. Then, if it isn't what you wanted, you have to crop again, and again, and again...... I shoot a lot of sports, which means the framing of a shot is iffy, at best. When cropping, to allow 8x10 prints at 300dpi it would be good to be able to crop close to, or exactly to, 3000 pixels on the long edge. What I do now is crop to what I think is 3000, let go of the tool. See that it is 3246 on the long edge. Crop again. See that it's 2921. Crop again. See that it's 3009. Give up and accept that number.

Another way of accomplishing this would be to allow exact pixel crops instead of only proportions or aspect ratios.

The Any Crop plugin shows the current dimensions (in pixels, inches, or centimeters) while you are cropping.  It also lets you create presets to crop at an exact pixel size.

It's not nearly as convenient as having that functionality built-in, but it gets the job while waiting for Adobe to implement it.

I can kind of understand what you are asking but I'm thinking that if I was in your situation I would be cropping the image for maximising the visual impact of the subject and then setting Lightroom to resize the image to 3000px on the long edge when exporting or publishing!!! Tick the "Don't Enlarge" option so that small images don't get pixelated

As I understand it Lightroom really doesn't care about image pixels until an image is exported or published. Until then it has a raw file and a set of instructions which detail the edits you want to apply such as exposure, clarity etc and crop aspect ratio. All those instructions are only applied when Lightroom creates a jpeg or tiff during an export/publish.

The original request was to display the cropped dimensions of the image in Develop. This information is available in the Metadata panel of Library as the original poster points out.  The functionality to show the cropped pixel dimension is available in Develop via the Info display as discussed above.  

A real-time, as-you-move-the-crop-handles, interactive crop is something different and would require a separate feature request.  

The original poster, Patrick, had a follow up comment that makes me think he wanted to see it while the crop tool is actually being used. I took his original post to mean that as well. Your statement  is correct, Tony. I don't see the need to start another thread just to request the same thing.

Actually, since in most cases we need to have this information in real time because we want to adjust the dimensions (in pixels, of course) to a specific value, this feature should work in both directions. The Crop Tool panel should have 2 fields for height and width. These fields would be updated in real time when using the crop handles and reversely, the cropping frame should be adjusted to the dimensions entered in these fields (and we could as usual position the image in the frame as is already possible with the hand tool).
