Also, what happens if you go to File menu > Email Photos without first going through the Import dialog?

Since yours is the only report I've seen let's try to isolate the issue:
Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.
Reset Procedure:
1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.
Does the crash behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

Since it started in the middle of a release cycle and an update and preference reset didn't help, that would be the next thing to check.
Also, what Mail Client are you using?

Preferences have been reset: no change
Video Drivers are up to date: no change
At this point, the next step is to uninstall Lightroom and reinstall from a fresh download. If we can't access the dialog after that we will have to get some logs from you.

For anyone who experiences this issue, this is what i did to resolve it:
1. exit Lightroom Classic CC.
2. go to the folder:
C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Email Accounts
3. Delete the .lua file that you find there... it's where the outgoing email file information is stored.
4. Re-launch Lightroom Classic
5. Select and image and export to email
6. now instead of crashing, it gives you the email setup screen.
7. In GMAIL, i use the 2-step validation process. Which means you need to generate an app specific password for any apps that will be using gmail. I already had one for Lightroom, but to be safe I generated a new one. Go to gmail, then go to Account -> sign-in & security -> App Passwords
- it will ask for your password again
- follow the instructions to generate a new password for Lightroom Classic CC
- copy it to clipboard
8. Back in LR, in the New Account window,
- Select GMAIL as the Service Provider
- Add your name
- Enter your email address
- Paste in the password you generated in 7 above.
And that has fixed the crash.
I am now able to email from LR once again.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.

The problem comes back every time i quit LR and re-launch it.
At least i have a way to fix it, but man it's a real pain to have to generate a new PW, delete the current email config file, and recreate it, every time i want to email something from LR.
Can you please ask the software engineers to look at the crash reports i've been sending, to see if they can figure out why this keeps happening.
Thanks
Tony
EDIT: I don't have to regenerate a new PW each time, just keep using the one already generated. But i do have to delete the existing .lau file, so that LR will prompt me for my outgoing email information again.

I've had the exact same problem on and off for maybe a year. Any update on this? Relevant info
1 - I cleared all presets.
2 - I have sent in a crash report
3 - Outlook 2016
4 - Windows 10
5- I have no .lua files expect in Modules/HDR2 ... and an info.lua
6 - I had 3 files, Email-2500px.lrtemplate, For Email(Har Drive) and for Email.tmplate. I deleted these.
It does not matter if I run email on the initial drop down or through exports. After resetting preferences it only available in export.
Thanks,
Jay
