Lightroom Classic: Copy/Paste Develop Settings Doesn't Work

Question

Decided to come back to Lightroom and download the trial after a while of not using.

I recall in previous versions, that one was able to "paste develop settings" between images. For some reason, the option appears in the menu/right-click menu, however it is grayed out... I can't seem to get it to work for the life of me! I even reinstalled. For the first time using this software in so long, this isn't a great sign. I wanted to try software outside of Phase One, but now I'm most likely going to go back as it seems to work, despite how easy it is to switch between the various cloud applications, which I do like.

Perhaps I've simply done something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Please do the menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the first ten lines or so here. That will let us know which version you're running and whether you're tripped over an update bug.

Oh it started to work! I logged into a different account (A new one I created rather than my old adobe account) and it began to work!

Perhaps the trial had an issue because I am an old customer? Something to watch out for in the future! I hope this doesn't happen with a full purchased license

You may have tripped over an upgrade bug, where Lr updated a version 6 (or earlier) perpetual license installation with a trial of LR Classic CC (subscription-based).  This isn't supposed to happen, but when it does, the upgraded LR behaves strangely with many features seemingly disabled.  By logging in, you then converted it from a (buggy) perpetual license to the correct free trial of the subscription license. But just a guess.

Paste Settings is normally grayed out when you don't have anything in the clipboard to paste.  I hate to ask the simple question, but did you copy settings from another image first?  The process would normally be to choose 'Copy Settings' on one image and then 'Paste Settings' on another.

Related issue #1: paste setting doesn't work if user didn't create previews manually, because nobody does this, it just doesn't work completely! The issue was reported 2-3 years ago and still (!!!) has not been fixed. The quality of Adobe support is just below zero. The worst ever.

mine works, BUT, since I have the loupe deck.. (don't know if that's the reason) The settings won't be pasted from the first time.. So I have to go back to a picture, copy the settings again, and then pasting the settings again on the image I want it to be.. very frustrating and time consuming.
Anybody has the key to this problem?

I can only copy edits to the first image. I downloaded the LR from the photographer plan subscriptions menu yesterday. I am following the in application instructions to copy and paste. Control c to copy image, select images to copy to, paste (from edit menu). only the first image in the series in changed. HELP!

In Develop mode only the 'most selected' image is affected by edits unless you turn ON Auto-Sync.   Be VERY, VERY careful when you use Auto-Sync because if you forget to turn it OFF it will create all kind of problems for you with unwanted edits that are difficult to get rid of.

To build on Robert's reply, two safer alternatives to Auto Sync are:

- Right-click the selected thumbnails and do Develop Settings > Paste Settings. (Yes, that applies to all selected photos.)

- Click the Sync button.
