Lightroom Classic: Context Menu Email stops working

I have plumbed the depths of the Adobe help and support site and scoured the interwebs. Can't find an answer.

I have correctly configured the Gmail helper with the 2-factor security and the special google password to enable lightroom to call gmail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom (even most recently wiped my drive and did a clean install of MacOS Catalina, after which I once again reinstalled lightroom.

I have successfully sent emails every time I did a complete reinstall and setup for Gmail. BUT it only works two or three time and then when I click send ... ta dahhh nothing happens!! Damn. I have found that if I delete the preferences .plist file it will work again but also only for a short time ... I've never had it work for more than a day since this problem reared its head about 2 weeks ago (could it have the 'virus'?). It always worked before and I don't think I've changed anything else.

I use email all the time to send some of my family images to my kids and grandkids .... waaaah. Please HELP.

Thanx much.

On my MAC using Mac Mail my email quits working every once in awhile.  I right click a photo and select Email Photo, click Send and my Mac Mail doesn't show up.  I tried using Export/For Mail and it worked.  Strangely my Right Click/Email Photo than works.  Now if it doesn't work it just Export/For Mail once and it kickstarts Right Click.  I have no idea why but it works for me.

Glad it worked for you.  I just stumbled on the solution. It is a strange bug.  Adobe reads these forums.

Simplify! Just export the files you want to send and attach them to an already created email. Done! Yeah, I know it's supposed to work right from Lightroom, but seriously, move on with a workaround and stop torturing yourself!

Simplify!  Your method is definitely not simpler.  Both Export/For Mail (which always works) and Email Photos ( which needs a kickstart rarely) is simpler.

You have to
Select files in Lr
Export
Find the files in the OS
Select and drag to the email (or whatever you do)
Send email
Delete the files
Switch back to Lr

Compared to
Select files in Lr
rightclick Email Photos
Send mail
I’m still in Lr
